After much deliberation, the Trustees of Root Institute for Wisdom Culture have passed a resolution to close and discontinue Tara Children's Project (TCP) as of June 30, 2018.
TCP came into operation in 2009 with the intention of providing comprehensive care to orphans and children living with HIV. We feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve the TCP children with loving-kindness and compassion to the best of our ability.
Over the years and despite our ongoing efforts, we have continuously struggled to gain sufficient cooperation from the local and state government to receive the support needed to ensure professional quality care to work effectively with the children. We ultimately realized that the most compassionate way we could benefit these children was to explore other highly-qualified and well-established homes who have the professional skills, expertise and compassion to serve and care for the children.
It has been an emotional and challenging time for all of us here with our priority being to ensure the well-being of the children during this transition. However, we are very happy to report that the children without guardians have been transferred to Home of Hope which is part of the Calvary Chapel Trust – a professional, fully registered organisation committed to serving AIDS children in Mirzapur, located close to Varanasi and the river Ganges. They have a boy's and a girl's home on their large, beautiful campus, which also includes some animals including geese, rabbits, dogs and a pond with fish. The children have been settled in, and seem to be happy there. The guardians, of those children who have them, have also been notified about the new home and the steps they need to take to transfer their child.
While we are no longer accepting donations for TCP, a fund is being created from the donations received to assist each child with their educational, vocational and medical needs.
Thank you so much for your friendship, kindness and support of TCP over the years. We rejoice in all the merits created and we dedicate it to the well-being and the quick enlightenment of all these children, and children everywhere.
Please feel free to reach out to Ven Tenzin Paldron, Director of Root Institute for Wisdom Culture, with any further questions.
